Join the African Students Association (ASA) for a vibrant cultural event where we explore the beautiful Ghanaian tradition of “day names.” In Ghanaian culture, the day of the week you are born determines a unique name, with special meanings tied to identity and heritage. For example, girls born on Monday are called Adwoa, while boys are called Kojo if born on Monday!

At this interactive meet and greet, you’ll:
Learn about the significance of day names in Ghanaian culture and discover your own Ghanaian day name.
Create your own personalized bead jewelry inspired by your day name, using traditional bead-making techniques.
Connect with fellow students, share stories, and celebrate diversity within the UM-Flint community.

Come for the beads, stay for the community and take home a meaningful piece of Ghanaian heritage!
