Details

This long-standing ceremony honors and recognizes veterans of the University of Michigan-Flint and all veterans, near and far, who have served our country in one or more of the military service branches. The morning begins with a buffet breakfast at 9:00 am. The program begins promptly at 10:00 am.

Michigan Veterans Memorial Park Commission

John Juarez is a U.S. Army veteran and currently serves as a commissioner on the Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission. John has held various positions at the State of Michigan including internal control and compliance officer, IT audit manager, and audit manager, while providing services to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, State Budget Office, Civil Service Commission, and Department of Treasury. Prior to joining the State of Michigan, John held positions at Johnson and Johnson, Merrill Lynch, and Pfizer (Pharmacia). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rider University in New Jersey. John is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has served as president of the Western Michigan Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (WMISACA) and served on the board of the Lansing Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA-Lansing). John, his wife, and two children enjoy supporting the arts, traveling, and volunteering with their church. He and his wife recently returned from a trip to France where they visited Normandy’s D-Day invasion sites (and Paris).
