Exit, Pursued by a Bear is a fast-paced, biting comedy about Nan Carter, a woman who is done with her abusive husband and plans to leave him in the most dramatic way possible—with the help of her friends and a very hungry bear. This play is a dark comedy that blends humor with powerful themes of revenge, redemption, heartbreak, and finding one’s voice.

WHERE: UM-Flint Theatre Main Stage
WHAT TO PREPARE: Theatre Majors/Minors – Prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue. Non-Theatre Majors will be provided material to share at the audition.

IMPORTANT DATES/TIMES
Rehearsals: Weekday evenings. First Rehearsal: Wednesday, September 25th. Production Dates: November 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17

ROLES AVAILABLE
Nan Carter: Smart, caring, fed-up, and determined. Seeking freedom from her abusive marriage and justice.
Kyle Carter: Nan’s husband. Initially charming but ultimately revealed as controlling and abusive.
Simon: Nan’s best friend. Theatrical, flamboyant, and fiercely loyal. A mix of wisdom and searing wit.
Sweetheart: An optimistic, aspiring actor and stripper with a heart of gold. An unlikely yet devoted ally for Nan.

ALL UM-Flint students of ALL ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as students with disabilities, are encouraged to audition.
