We've invited Angela Nelson from East Michigan Native Plants to give a workshop on the dos and don'ts of saving seeds from native plants. Participants will take home some of the seeds they helped to process.
EMNP specializes in growing pesticide-free Michigan native wildflowers and grasses, with a focus on plants that are important to our native pollinators, birds, amphibians and reptiles.

This event will be livestreamed. Virtual attendance is encouraged.
Join award-winning forager, outdoor educator, and James Beard Award winner Alexis Nikole Nelson for a lively conversation about wild foods, sustainability, and the rich cultural traditions connected to the plants growing all around us. With more than 5 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, Alexis has become a beloved social media creator who inspires audiences to see the natural world in a new way while exploring the intersections of food, history, and environmental stewardship. Through storytelling, humor, and practical insights, she invites us to reconnect with the land.

Interested in creating a junk journal but you're not sure where to start? Or maybe you have a junk journal that you need to update with all of your most recent junk? Either way, come by the UCEN 3rd floor loft space for Junk Journaling 101!
Junk Journaling is a sustainable activity that includes a handmade book that is created by using recycled, reusable, or secondhand materials. This includes ticket stubs, wristbands, letters, food packaging, or anything else that you may want to hold onto. These types of journals can include writing, collages, and any other mixed media art. How you design your junk journal in entirely up to you! To learn more about junk journaling, check out this page: https://www.margaretemiller.com/blog/what-i-wish-i-knew-as-a-junk-journal-beginner
We encourage students to bring their own "junk" and any other supplies they wish to use. However, we will have plenty of supplies to use, especially if you're just starting out!
This Climate Week event is free and open to all students! Feel free to drop by anytime between 12pm-2pm!
4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Calling all students, faculty, and staff interested in sustainability on-campus! Select Flint students actively engaged in sustainability work on- and off-campus will present what they’ve learned in their recent sustainability experiences during lightning talks.
After the presentations, meet sustainability organizations and programs that provide sustainability opportunities that you can get involved in, including the upcoming Michigan Climate Action Fellowship.
This event will be hybrid, please register and we will send a Zoom link closer to the event!
Food will be provided!
