Artist's Statement

Grey matter is an essential type of tissue in your brain and spinal cord. It plays a significant role in mental functions, memory, emotions and movement. — Cleveland Clinic

“I have never considered what I create to be hard or easy; good or bad. I like to think the world is talking and I am good at listening.”

I’ve always felt that making art isn’t about proving anything. It’s about paying attention. I don’t set out to impress or to explain. I show up, I listen, and I get to work. Some days that feels clear and steady. Other days it’s messy. Either way, it’s honest.

I’m grateful to have the chance to share what I make and to connect with people through it. That part still humbles me. Once a piece leaves my hands, it’s no longer just mine. My thoughts about it don’t carry more weight than anyone else’s. The meaning belongs to whoever stands in front of it. I’m not them, and they’re not me. What they see and feel is real and valid.

Grey Matter Collective is a simple idea at heart. It’s about the stuff that makes us human - memory, emotion, instinct, thought. The push and pull between heart and head. The quiet space where something starts to take shape before we can fully explain it.

In the studio, I trust the process. I trust the materials. I trust my hands. I don’t overthink whether something is “good” or “bad.” I ask whether it feels true. If it does, I let it stand.

I’m deeply thankful for the collectors and patrons who’ve supported my work. I’ve been amazed by the stories they’ve shared about what they see in the pieces and hearing stories I never could have planned. That exchange is the best part of all.

At the end of the day, this work is about connection. Showing up. Listening. Making something real. And letting it find its way into someone else’s life in whatever way it needs to.
