Everyone’s favorite Scottish nanny is entertaining people around the world in this internationally acclaimed hit musical critics call “wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny” (Manchester Evening News), and “a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers” (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film, Mrs. Doubtfire is the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we all need right now.
Out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard will do anything for his kids. After losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in his kids’ lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father. A hysterical and heartfelt story about holding onto your loved ones against all odds, Mrs. Doubtfire proves we’re better together.

Join us for a night at the Purple Rose, for a performance of The Classic King. A brand-new work by Richard Johnson directed by Jeff Daniels — digs into relatable themes: identity, changing times, and what it means to keep going even when everything around you is shifting. It’s drama, comedy, and a real look at what life can be.
Right after the performance, we will have an exclusive talk-back session with the people who brought the production to life. It’s your chance to ask questions, learn about the creative process, and hear firsthand what it took to make the show happen.
Transportation will be provided for this event. Students should plan to meet in front of UCEN along Circle Drive at 5:45pm. From there, we will have a bus taking us to the theater.
Additional information will be sent as we get closer to the event. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Hope Hairston (hopehair@umich.edu).

Step Afrika!, founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, is the world’s leading authority on the art form of stepping. Under Williams’ leadership, stepping has evolved into one of America’s cultural exports, touring more than 60 countries across the globe and ranking as one of the top 10 African American dance companies in the US.
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows – they integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique, leaving the audience with their hearts pounding.
Step Afrika! promotes stepping as an educational tool for young people, focusing on teamwork, academic achievement and cross-cultural understanding. The company reaches tens of thousands of Americans each year through a 50-city tour of colleges and theaters and performs globally as Washington DC’s one and only Cultural Ambassador.

An award-winning beatboxer and live-looping artist, SungBeats creates entire songs using only his voice — layering vocal percussion, harmonies, and samples in real time to build a sound that’s bigger than any one performer.
With more than 800 million views online, his jaw-dropping performances have taken social media by storm, earning him a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts around. His shows are interactive, immersive, and unforgettable — audience members often become part of the music as Sung crafts beats and rhythms inspired by the crowd itself.

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare combines love, confusion, mistaken identities, and joyful discovery.
After the twins Sebastian and Viola survive a shipwreck, neither knows that the other is alive. Viola goes into service with Duke Orsino of Illyria, disguised as a young man, “Cesario.” Orsino sends Cesario to woo the Countess Olivia on his behalf, but Olivia falls in love with Cesario. Viola, in the meantime, has fallen in love with Orsino.
In the meantime, twin Sebastian has been rescued by a sea captain, Antonio, [and disappears into Ilyria…]
At the estate of Countess Olivia, Lady Toby Belch, Olivia’s kinswoman, has brought in Sir Andrew Aguecheek to be Olivia's suitor. A confrontation between Malvolio, Olivia’s steward-estate manager, and the partying Lady Toby & Co. leads to a revenge plot against Malvolio, who is then tricked into making a fool of himself, and locked in a dungeon as a lunatic.
When Viola, as Cesario, is challenged to a duel, Antonio mistakes her for Sebastian, comes to her aid, and is arrested. Sebastian the twin is discovered…Olivia mistakes Sebastian for Cesario and declares her love [and Sebastian is immediately enchanted by Olivia but knows nothing of his twin Viola/Cesario]. When, finally, Sebastian and Viola appear together, the puzzles around the mistaken identities are solved: Cesario is revealed as Viola, Orsino asks for Viola’s hand, Sebastian will wed Olivia, and Viola will marry Duke Orsino. Malvolio, blaming Olivia and others for his humiliation, vows revenge.
