Climate Week 2026

Did you love The Mending Lab? Well we’re bringing it back this Fall in a whole new way with focused workshops and some refreshments while you learn.

One Monday a month, we’ll host a workshop with FPA to help you repair your much loved items that you can’t bring yourself to throw away yet. Try your hand at a new skill each month. Want to learn the skill but don’t have the garment? No worries! We’ve partnered with Wolverine Essentials to provide a limited supply of clothing or accessory items for you to practice on and make your own.

This month’s Mending Cafe, we’ll be teaching you how to do quick and easy repairs on your most loved jewelry pieces. Bring what you have and we’ll show you how to make it wearable again.

Interested in creating a junk journal but you're not sure where to start? Or maybe you have a junk journal that you need to update with all of your most recent junk? Either way, come by the UCEN 3rd floor loft space for Junk Journaling 101!

Junk Journaling is a sustainable activity that includes a handmade book that is created by using recycled, reusable, or secondhand materials. This includes ticket stubs, wristbands, letters, food packaging, or anything else that you may want to hold onto. These types of journals can include writing, collages, and any other mixed media art. We encourage students to bring their own "junk" and any other supplies they wish to use. However, we will have plenty of supplies to use, especially if you're just starting out!

This Climate Week event is free and open to all students! Feel free to drop by anytime between 11am-3pm!

Calling all students, faculty, and staff interested in sustainability on-campus! Select Flint students actively engaged in sustainability work on- and off-campus will present what they’ve learned in their recent sustainability experiences during lightning talks.

After the presentations, meet sustainability organizations and programs that provide sustainability opportunities that you can get involved in, including the upcoming Michigan Climate Action Fellowship.

Food will be provided!
