For every Week of Wellness event attended, students will be entered to win one of these prizes: Bose Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones, Massage Gun, Weighted Blanket, Verilux Happy Light, Aromatherapy Diffuser with essential oils.

8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
MHFA is skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge. Similar to physical First Aid and CPR, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved.
Participants will be required to complete at two hour pre-training before the in-person training.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Keep calm, relax, and craft with HRL! Join us during Week of Wellness. There will be free massages by staff from the Flint School of Massage Therapy, craft tables, and light snacks. There will be materials to make your own glow jars, origami, slime, or stress balls. Make one or make them all!
8:00 PM – 10:30 PM
This week, Men's Hockey is challenging the Adrian College Bulldogs! Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at Crystal Fieldhouse, and it's the annual student appreciation night! Stay tuned for more event & shirt giveaway details in January.

There are many benefits to massage therapy as it can lower stress, anxiety, and depression, improve sleep, and boost your immune system. Student Health & Wellness at UM-Flint invites you to take time to relax through taking part in a FREE massage day! Massage therapists will be available offering free 15 minute massages.

Being in the queer community can be tough, but it's important to live your truth regardless of adversity. Let's talk about mental health with a Peer Ed, and learn techniques for managing it. By learning about our mental health, we can be more present and experience more queer joy.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
It's Wellness Week and the perfect time to learn how to make your own sugar scrub! Sugar scrubs remove dead skin cells, dirt, and excess oils. This can help your skin look brighter and more radiant. Also, enter a raffle to win a soothing rice bag and enjoy some stress relieving snacks!

The first Social Justice Leadership Series (SJLS) is this week on Thursday in the ICC from 4 - 5:30 p.m. In this session, for the Week of Wellness ICC and CGS staff will discuss the importance of Hope and Healing.
These monthly sessions will explore various social justice topics and the diverse and inclusive perspectives that they can bring. SJLS is open to all students, faculty, and staff who are looking to deepen their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dinner will be provided.

Fly down wooded trails led by a team of professional dogs, and experience the true spirit of winter recreation. Hike, snowshoe, or cross-country ski to explore the endless woods of the northern mitten. Enjoy cozy cabins, hot chocolate, good friends, and warm blankets -- all gear is provided and no experience is required! Cost: $575

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
Join this training hosted by CAPS clinicians to learn more about how you can be a resource to those contemplating suicide. Participants will receive a one year certification as a trained QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper.

In partnership with the Genesee County Health Department & UM-Flint Environment, Health and Safety, there will be an on-campus vaccination clinic. This is still a good time to get vaccinated, students, faculty, staff and the general public- including children- will have the opportunity to receive a flu vaccine and/or the most recent COVID-19 vaccine. Participants will need to show a state-issued ID or their health insurance card. Most insurances will be accepted. No appointment is necessary!

Not sure where you should start in order to reach your healthy eating goals? Or maybe have some general nutrition questions?
Students can register to meet one-on-one with our certified nutrition counselor, Melanie, for FREE via Zoom! The 20-25 minute sessions are a time where she can help answer your questions about healthy eating, approaches for reaching your goals in a safe way, and assist with pre/post-workout nutrition tips.

This session is perfect for students seeking practical, real-world strategies for personal, academic, or professional improvement and requires no musical background--only an interest in listening to music and a desire to level up by learning about research-backed life skills that have been shown to improve people's wellness and academic effectiveness.

If you're interested in a New You for a New Year, information about nutrition counseling, personal training, and financial well-being will be provided at this event. Participants have the opportunity to spin the wheel for prizes as well as open a credit union account!!

The Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs are visiting during the Week of Wellness. Stop by the library's third floor and relieve some stress by hanging out with some adorable therapy dogs.

As part of Week of Wellness, Rec Services is offering a FREE Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED Certification at the Rec Center. To successfully obtain a certification, participants must register and complete *both* the required online learning prior to class (approx. 2-3 hours) and the in class portion (2 hours).
NOTE: This will cover adult lay responder rescues only, and not pediatric or professional rescuing. Registration will open January 8. Check your registration confirmation email from Campus Connections for details on how to access the Red Cross content.
Eligibility: This is for UM-Flint students only, and students will be verified by the email address and/or name provided upon registration with the Red Cross. Non-students will be removed from the class roster.

Family, friends, and romantic relationships play a crucial role in our wellness. However, they can also impact us in ways that become difficult to manage. In an effort to provide support and learn ways to navigate these challenges, please join CAPS throughout the winter 2025 semester where we discuss a variety of relationship topics and skills to help you move along your relationship journey. Healing is better together, so come hang out!
